Abingworth Vineyard Team Member - Chris Stedman

Chris Stedman

Founder

Joined: 16 Sep 2021

Chris had a lengthy career in shipping before retiring, but starting a vineyard was always on his mind. With a chemical engineering degree, he combined his love of wine with technical skills to build the vineyard and winery. He enjoys active work tending vines and finds calm outdoors. Involved in all areas of the business, Chris is driven to create wines with a strong reputation and great labels. Outside the vineyard, he loves horse racing, music, and travel.

Abingworth Vineyard Team Member - Caroline Stedman

Caroline Stedman

Founder

Joined: 16 Sep 2021

Caroline discovered the perfect site for vines whilst contemplating countryside relocation. With a background in History of Art, property development, and interior design, she brings creative vision and a passion for wine tourism. She loves the hands-on work of tending vines alongside her family and the wider team. Caroline is now focused on creating a visitor centre that reflects her love of wine, art, and design.

Dominic Travers

Vineyard Manager

Joined: 1 Jan 2024

Dom adds vital vineyard management experience across biodynamic, organic, and conventional practices. His passion for viticulture began during childhood visits to South African vineyards and led him to study at the Royal Agricultural University and intern at Nyetimber. He joined Abingworth in 2024, inspired by the vineyard’s ambition to shape the future of English wine.

Annie Stedworth

Sales and Marketing Director

Annie brings marketing experience from publishing and a passion for the site's history through archaeology. She’s dedicated to sharing the vineyard’s story, building community, and celebrating its wine.

Georgie Stedman

Product Director

Joined: 2 May 2023

Georgie leads product innovation and customer experience. With a background in fashion and creative writing, she brings fresh ideas to prototyping, packaging, social media, and branding.

Katie Stedman

Operations Director

Joined: 2 May 2023

Katie oversees Finance, HR, and Business Operations. With a background in renewable energy and experience scaling small businesses, she's helping to build and grow Abingworth Vineyard.

Abingworth Vineyard Team Member - Juliet Stedman

Juliet Stedman

Art Director

Joined: 1 Feb 2024

Juliet has a background in art, illustration, and teaching. She creates the beautiful images on our labels and leads many of our creative projects, while also painting in her studio and caring for her young daughter.

Will Pegler

Vineyard Assistant / Crop Technician

Will combines his love of the land, tractors, and the outdoors through his work in viticulture. He’s focused on growing healthy, sustainable vines and producing high-quality fruit that reflects the character of the land.

William Sanders

Vineyard Assistant / Crop Technician

Joined: 2 Sep 2024

William works in the vineyard and winery. He enjoys the changing seasons in the vines, especially misty winter mornings. Outside viticulture, he’s interested in Kantian idealism, Polish jazz, and time with his family and animals.

Abingworth Vineyard Team Member - Joe Whitehouse

Joe Whitehouse

Vineyard Apprentice

Joined: 10 Jul 2023

Joe is a viticulture apprentice at Plumpton College and part of the Abingworth team. He likes to live in the moment amongst the vines and machinery, and enjoys motorsports, dogs, and time with family.
